Louisville, KY’s Jaye Jayle (feat. Evan Patterson of Young Widows) recently revealed a partnership with label/management team Sargent House. This deal follows the release of their excellent debut full-length, 2016’s House Cricks and Other Excuses to Get Out, in addition to extensive U.S. touring this past year with the likes of Daughters, Freakwater, Sumac, and others.
Now, Jaye Jayle have announced a string of of shows in the midwest / east coast this January with Cloakroom and, following the tour’s completion, the release of a six-song split E.P. with Sargent House label mate Emma Ruth Rundle. Titled The Time Between Us, this split features three songs from each artist and will be available February 24th, 2017.
Formed in 2013, Jaye Jayle are veterans
of Kentucky’s dark indie scene. Naming themselves as a pen name or a
pseudonym to veer away from a traditional band moniker, the group sought to
eliminate unnecessary variables and deconstruct their compositions down to
their most concentrated essence. Jaye
Jayle owe less to our nation’s roots music and more to
peripheral rock bands that have taken the “less is more” attitude to its
furthest reaches. Their music is an exercise in tension and restraint, a
tightrope act between singer-songwriter traditions and art rock
experimentation, and an intersection of Southern cultural permutations and
otherworldly sounds.
2017 will be an exciting year for Jaye Jayle - more news to surface soon.
