EVERYTHING EMMA RUTH RUNDLE SINGS SOUNDS LIKE A WARNING // THE NEW YORK TIMES

Emma Ruth Rundle is featured in the The New York Times Magazine Music Issue. It is a great write up by Hanif Abdurraqib also featuring a track from her collaboration with Thou.

"Once, I played the Rundle album “Some Heavy Ocean” (2014) for a pal of mine who had never heard her before, and she turned to me halfway through and said, “I like that everything she sings sounds like a warning or a threat.” This is the best way I have to explain Rundle — not necessarily her voice itself, but her delivery of information, the way she sings the words “just another gray landscape to face” in a whisper that increases in both silence and intensity."

CHELSEA WOLFE PRESENTS WOMEN IN HEAVY MUSIC // BBC RADIO 6

A selection of female-fronted heavy rock, metal and noise handpicked by American songwriter Chelsea Wolfe. Chelsea’s own music blends elements of gothic rock, doom metal, and folk music into haunting and atmospheric songs. Featuring radical and wondrous vocals from Karina Utomo and her group High Tension, Lingua Ignota brings out the desperation in the lyrics to Dolly Parton’s Jolene with a slowed down version accompanied by crunchy guitar arpeggios and there’s heavy riffs and catchy melodies from Dallas’ True Widow.

March 11 at midnight UK time, 1AM CET.
